The Pyramids and the Sphinx
You cannot miss one of Egypt's top attractions, the last surviving member of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Great Pyramid of Giza. There are in fact three main pyramids in Giza; the Great Pyramid of Khufu (or Cheops), The Pyramid of Kafhre and the smaller Pyramid of Menkaura. Each Pyramid is a tomb to a different King of Egypt. In front of the pyramids lies the Sphinx, carved out of a single block of stone, this enormous lion-like sculpture has impressed millions of visitors. Giza's three pyramids and the Sphinx were thought to have been constructed in the fourth dynasty of Egypt's Old Kingdom (about 5000 years ago),the first great civilization on earth.


Sound and light show

Centered around the Sphinx is a nightly occurrence,sound and light show gives you interesting facts about the Pyramids. Guests enjoy a fabulous 45 minute show at the feet of the pyramids of Giza, held every evening and it shows in several languages.

Old Kingdom

The capital of the Old Kingdom of Egypt has some extraordinary funerary monuments, including rock tombs, ornate mastabas, temples and pyramids. If you are interested in seeing the forerunner to the Great Pyramid, head to Saqqara to see the 'Step Pyramid'. It is considered to be the first pyramid ever built and it dates to around 2800 BC. Dahshur is an 12 th dynasty pyramids, older cousins of the oyramids of Giza. Of the original 11pyramids here, only the bent and the red pyramids remain intact. There are mud brick remain of the black pyramid, which contain a maze of corridors and rooms designed to deceive tomb robbers.
